Feather pulp collection takes under 2 minutes at home — no vet visit, no stress
Order Your Avian Kit
Kit arrives in 3–5 business days with a feather collection envelope, optional blood card, prepaid return, and activation card.
Feather pulp is the primary method — no blood draw needed for most tests.
Pull 3–5 Feathers
Gently pull 3–5 contour feathers from the breast or wing. The root/follicle (white bulb at the base) must be intact — DNA is in the follicle, not the shaft.
Avoid molted or shed feathers — they lack the follicle. Freshly pulled only. Works for all species 4 weeks and older.
Seal & Mail
Place feathers in the provided paper envelope (not plastic — moisture damages DNA). Drop in any USPS mailbox. Prepaid postage included.
Samples remain stable for 30+ days at room temperature in the desiccant envelope provided.
